Spring in Michigan has been a fickle thing this year, with 60 degree weather in January and snowstorms in April, but Jessica & Taylor got lucky for their end-of-April engagement session and had some great weather! The leaves still hadn’t peaked out from the trees, but we were thankful to have a lovely sunset with amazing colors for their evening in the woods.
They drove up from Dearborn and we met at a little local park that has some cute hiking trails and a beautiful lake view. We started off right away heading down the trail, the beautiful birch trees standing out as a great area for our first location. It was fun to start out clambering through the brush a little bit. Jessica wore wedge heels and they both were in great, more dressed-up outfits, which they totally rocked while making their way through the woods. This definitely let us all get warmed up to each other as we dodged branches and thorn bushes to get to our spots.
They have a great sense of humor, especially Taylor, and amid jokes about how to break in to someones house and the best movie references we got loosened up just in time for a gorgeous sunset over the lake. Bryan and Taylor bonded over a similar sense of humor that had us all laughing as we made our way back up the trail to the cars. That is one of the main reasons we love shooting engagement sessions with all our couples first, so that we can build a relationship with them before the wedding. That way, when we show up on the wedding day it’s more like hanging out with old friends rather than some stranger sticking a big camera in your face. This always helps get the guys more comfortable and makes for a much more fun and relaxed wedding day!
We are really looking forward to Jessica and Taylor’s Dearborn wedding this coming fall, and can’t wait to share in their special day as they celebrate with family and friends!
