Samantha and Jason are an awesome couple that first reached out to me via my website. Samantha was so passionate as she described their wedding plans, you could tell they dreamed in high definition and knew exactly what they wanted. When we met in person we knew right right away that we were gonna hit it off, and we had their engagement session scheduled before we walked out the door. They decided to do their session in beautiful downtown Milford, and their lovely classic clothing choices complemented the beautiful spring day.
We met at my favorite meeting spot -- The Proving Grounds Coffee & Ice Cream -- to get settled and ready to head out. We started at the tiny town square park in the middle of town and played around under the gazebo and at the fountain. It's always fun to see couples start to warm up after the first few minutes of shooting, as they get comfortable being in front of the camera and showing a more personal and intimate side through our relaxed "posing" process. Always action based, we give the couple a task to do and then shoot through that task to get the images we are looking for. This allows for real emotion to happen between the couple and leaves room for in-the-moment interactions that truly show them for who they are! In Jason and Samantha's case that included some "drunken three-legged race walking" and "sexy cereal whispering" -- trust me, it's pure gold.
Since Samantha has a dance background, it was clear we had to incorporate the element of movement into their session. The two of them dipped and jumped and twirled their way around the town. Their second outfits were perfect to show off the movement with her beautiful floral patterned dress, and Jason looked so sharp in his dress pants, crisp white shirt, and awesome shoes. They did an amazingly fast quick change into their second outfit as we made our way over to Central Park while making a few stops along the way. One of my favorite shots of the whole session was an impromptu stop in front of Gina's Bridal, a super cute bridal boutique located right downtown. On their front door they had a gorgeous lavender wreath that perfectly matched Samantha's dress and we got some beautiful images of the two of them close together in that doorway.
We had such a good time, the session definitely ran a little over, and at the end we had a memory card full of stunning images to sift through. Take a look at some of my favorites below! We can't wait to share the memories of their upcoming October wedding at the Crowne Plaza Auburn Hills and The Holly Vault. We are especially looking forward to their first dance featuring their live band at the reception!
